Maccasio before the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019 was hopeful that he’ll win in the category he was nominated in — that’s the Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year category.
His song Dagomba Girl featuring Mugeez was nominated in that category together with Shatta Wale’s Gringo, Stonebwoy’s Top Skanka and Samini’s Obaa song.
Indeed, the people he was competing with are all A-List musicians but he was hopeful because the votes coming in for him was massive.
Even a fan sold his television just to vote for Maccasio. It’s however unfortunate that Maccasio didn’t win.
The Northern-Region based musician said an estimate of 116,300 votes was cast for him so he’s surprised he couldn’t win.
He went ahead to say that the voting side of the award scheme should be scraped so that the VGMA Board to be deciding the winners of the various awards.
Maccasio more so thanked all those that voted for him.
“Cmon. 116300 votes couldn’t win a single category ?🤷♂️. I think they should just forget the voting side and let the board decide who wins any award. All those that voted,I thank u guys soo much. God bless you. The real winners✊🏻. #Maccasio #69fans #8thJune”, he posted on Facebook.
