Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, has said some Ghanaians numbering 125 have been deported from the US to Ghana after they have outlived their stay.

According to her, another 22 Ghanaians are waiting to arrive in the country after the COVID-19 is over since they have also outlived their stay in that country.

Speaking on the floor of parliament, Mrs Ayorkor Botchwey said these are measures put in place as part of conditions that led to the US lifting its visa restrictions on Ghana.

She said the pandemic had stalled processing of emergency travel certificates for the deportation of illegal Ghanaian immigrants in the United States.

The government, has, since the outbreak of the Coronavirus evacuated a lot of Ghanaians who are stranded in many parts of the world back home.
