Mahama does not care who dies for him to achieve his ambition of being the President of Ghana – Kamal-Deen Abdulai

A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kamal-Deen Abdulai, has stated that looking at the utterances and deeds of former President John Dramani Mahama, it is obvious he does not care who dies for him to achieve his ambition of being the President of Ghana.

He took an exception to the statement by Mr Mahama that those who are misconstruing his ‘Do or Die’ dictum are individuals who “left school too early” but his communicators like the Tamale Central legislator is saying even the ‘market woman in Makola ‘ and the ‘Kayayei on the streets’ explicitly understands what ‘Do or Die’ means.

Mr Abdulai said that amounts to “contradiction” and “ridiculousness” in their attempt to clean up the mess of an unfortunate statement uttered by an aspiring Presidential candidate.

He went on to read the definition of the English idiom ‘Do or Die’ and thus pointed out that the NPP do not want to see an election where human lives will be lost.

Mr Abdulai said when one watches the video of Mr Mahama carefully, it is obvious that he does not care about who dies for him to become President of Ghana.

He stated that looking at the way Mr Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) carried themselves, it seems he is the only one who can win the Presidency for them because he has been a Vice President, then President and now seeking to become President again in the country.

Mr Abdulai said his assessment comes on the back of the fact that the NDC is yet to have an intra-party elections to elect their leader but Mr Mahama is all out doing a ‘thank you’ tour around the country and that campaign has turned into an English language teaching by calling his supporters to die for his ambition of becoming President again.

He admonished Ghanaians to listen and watch carefully the kind of leaders they choose to become leaders of the country.

Mr Abdulai further stressed that he is not surprised at Mr Mahama’s ‘Do or Die’ comment because of how his party members like Mr Obed Asamoah and Francess Essiam were chased out of the party with “horse whips”. And also Mr Mahama’s declaration in the Volta Region that “when it comes to violence it is in our DNA, nobody can beat us to violence, this election 2020 we are going to mark them boot for boot”.

He said this in an interview with Berla Mundi on the New Day show on TV3, Thursday, September 9.

Mr Abdulai was reacting on the back of the controversial comment by former President Mahama on a Techiman-based radio station concerning the 2024 election, saying the NDC will match up the ruling NPP and that it shall be ‘Do or Die’ in the 2024 polls.

“The point I’m trying to make is that, and I emphasize on death, what we all seek to avoid is lives being lost. We do not want to see an election where blood is shed, we do not want to see an election where a single life is lost to mother Ghana. So when you now tell people and even when you watch the video, when Mr Mahama was speaking, he was hitting the table, ‘it’s going to be a do-or-die affair’ hitting the table, emotions tells you what the man is trying to do, to hit the table and say ‘do or die’, people don’t care who dies to become leaders. They don’t care who is going to die for them to become leaders, the understanding is that people must die for him to become President”, he pointed out on the New Day.
