600 Boko Haram members who killed dozens have been freed in Nigerian even though hundreds of people opposed the idea.
Some 600 Boko Haram members have been freed in Nigeria. Their freedom was given back to them on Monday after they regretted their membership and completed a rehabilitation and reintegration program – The incidence has caused a huge outcry in the media circle especially analyzing how many people they have killed so far.
Bamidele Shafa, the spokesperson for the Nigerian military’s Operation Safe Corridor, said members of the terror group who were caught in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states had sworn an oath of allegiance to the Republic of Nigeria.
He stated emphatically that the freed killers won’t rejoin the Boko Haram fighters ever again. He also said 1,400 Boko Haram killers who previously denounced their membership to the deadly group were also freed.
According to him, 280 terrorists were now at the rehabilitation centre.
Boko Haram terrorist attacks in Nigeria have killed over 30,000 people and displaced about 3 million since July 2009. They are still very loud in the northern part of Nigeria.
