Africa Tourism Leadership Forum and Awards 2022 kicks off today

Today (Monday, October 24, 2022) marks the beginning of the annual Africa Tourism Leadership Forum and Awards event.

This year’s event, the 5th successive ceremony, is hosted by Bostwana, the South African country widely recognized for its enormous tourist attractions.

The 5th Africa Tourism Leadership Forum and Awards will last three days; from October 24 to 26, 2022.

It will kick off with the Africa Tourism Leadership Forum where tourism leaders and experts will converge at the Gaborone International Convention Centre, Grand Palm, to discuss how to ignite intra-Africa tourism through inclusive intra-Africa trade, partnerships, and investment. Some 30 speakers and 300 delegates are expected to attend the event.

Among the faculty of speakers are H.E Zurab Pololikashvili – Secretary General, UNWTO; Ministers of Tourism; Elcia Grandcourt – Director, Africa Department, UNWTO, Emily Mburu-Ndoria – Director Directorate of Trade in Services, Investment, IPR and Digital Trade, AfCFTA, Ghana; Moseketsi Mpeta – Head Tourism & Manufacturing, Industrial Development Corporation, South Africa; Dr Geoffrey Manyara – Economic Affairs Officer for Tourism, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Rwanda; Fred Odek – Chairperson, East Africa Tourism Platform, Kenya; Pascal Viroleau – CEO, Vanilla Islands, Reunion Islands; Dr Linda Pereira – CEO, CPL Events, Portugal & UK, Jeanette Moloto – Director Global Sales Sub-Saharan Africa, Marriott International, Bonita Mutoni – Founder and CEO of Uber Luxe Safaris, Rwanda; Hando Sinisalu – Founder, Best Marketing & Marketing Parrot, Estonia; Didier Scaillet – Chief Executive Officer, Meeting Profile Consulting, Belgium and Senthil Gopinath – CEO, ICCA, Netherlands.

The forum will be followed by Africa’s Travel, Tourism, and Aviation CEOs & Executives Forum on Tuesday, October 25. Another event, African Night, will happen in the evening.

This year’s ceremony will end with an award night scheduled for Wednesday, October 26.
