Powerhouse highlife artist Nana Yaw Kumi known in showbiz as Kumi Guitar has called on various stakeholders and gatekeepers in the music industry to put up concerted efforts into promoting our indigenous highlife music.

According to him, if the whole industry will have an agenda to elevate highlife music he sees nothing but victory for the music business in our country.

“Yes we can but we cannot do it alone… we need the help of everybody” he answered when asked if they{musicians} could hold the fort of highlife music for future generations.

He further stated that, even though its their responsibility as musicians to always project the image of Ghana through traditional and indigenous music, the media also has a huge part to play.

“Everybody who has the power to push music to the people… because at the end of the day people fall in love with what they always hear…if you like every radio station should play reggae for six months.. every Ghanaian will love reggae”. he told Londona on Kingdom ➕.

Kumi Guitar made the observation that if much effort is invested in our local music industry, as it has the potential to rival any pop culture elsewhere on the face of the planet.

He also mentioned that what pulls the country back is the tendency of supporting foreign brands to the detriment of ours.
