The president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo hints on making National Identification card numbers become Tax Identification Number.
His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo suggested by so doing, the number of people registered for tax purposes by the Ghana Revenue Authority would be increased from 3 million to 15 million.
He disclosed this while delivering his first state of the nation’s address since his re-election on Tuesday, 9th March 2021.
According to Mr. President, the National ID numbers will be linked to NHIS numbers, birth and death registration, sim cards and as well as DVLA documents.
On the day of it’s effectiveness from 1st April 2021, he emphasized on it as a promise and not an April fool.
