Fletcher was born in the English city of London. He disclosed that he has a younger brother named Paul and that his family ties can be traced back to County Wexford in Ireland in an interview with The Aquarian Weekly.
He attended St. Martin’s School of Art with John Foxx and Daniel Miller but did not graduate; however, he has worked as a printmaker and illustrator for over 25 years, citing Alphonse Mucha as one of his influences.
Andy’s first solo album, The Land of Rape and Honey, was released in May 1999 on EMI America Records. Wrong Side of The Torture is a remix collection comprising remixed versions of songs from the album.
Later in 1999, Garden was released. He formed Tapeworm in 2000 with fellow NIN members Danny Lohner and Charlie Clouser (who had been playing the drums with Trent Reznor’s side band Nine Inch Night since 1997).
They published an album in 2002 and toured North America, Japan, Australia, and Europe to promote it. In the same year, Charlie Clouser and Trent Reznor reassembled Nine Inch Nails for a two-year world tour.
