Tom was born on February 2, 1937 and Dick was born on November 20, 1938 to a US Army officer who was a POW in Japan. They attended San Jose State University and started performing folk music while in college.
The Brothers made their debut in February 1959 at The Purple Onion in San Francisco. They went on to record and released over 40 albums over the decades. They appeared on television shows like The Jack Paar Show, The Judy Garland Show and Burke’s Law before launching their show in 1965. They won the 1969 Emmy Award for best writing.
The Brothers appeared on other television shows like Benson, Life With Bonnie, Once Upon a Mattress and The Simpsons.
