The Catalans had already beaten the Los Blancos 3-0 in their midweek Copa Del Rey clash.

Today’s league game presented a good opportunity to Real Madrid to avenge the midweek defeat but they couldn’t make their home advantage count.

Croatia international, Ivan Rakitic scored the only goal in the game in the first half.

The result means, for the first time since 1932, Barcelona lead Real Madrid in El Classico Head-to-Head with 96 wins as against 95 by the Los Blancos.
