Bess worked at Coney Island in a song and dance act known as The Floral Sisters when she was first courted by Houdini’s younger brother called Theo a.k.a Theodore Harden. However it was the older Houdini brother named Harry, that Bess fell in love with and got married to. The pair tied the knot on June 22, 1894. The couple worked as The Houdinis for many years before Houdini hit it big as The Handcuff King.

Bess Houdini died on February 11, 1943. She died while in Needles, California, aboard an eastbound train traveling from Los Angeles to New York City. Bess was 67 years old when she died. Bess died from a heart attack
