Bob LaRose (March 6, 1946 – April 25, 2022) was a professional football player with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. LaRose graduated from Western with a degree in Physical Education, and he also played basketball and football for the school.

He was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, where he spent eight seasons as a co-captain and players’ representative, followed by a year as a color commentator for CBC Western Canada Football.

LaRose would subsequently become the football program’s Defensive Coordinator as well as an Associate Professor of Sports Psychology and Kinesiology. He coached football at Western for 20 years and influenced hundreds of student-athletes.

With heavy hearts, the family of Robert (Bob) La Rose announced his death on April 25th, 2022, in Huntsville, from a sudden heart attack.

Bob died in Huntsville on Monday, May 25th, 2022. He was 76 years old at the time. A private burial and memorial service will be held for him.
