Civil Society organizations in Ghana, including, IDEG, ACEP, CDD, GII, CHRI ACILA and many others have formed a coalition purposely to demand for the Auditor General to be brought back to his normal duties.

This was a reaction to the directive given by the president which instructed Mr. Daniel Domelevo to go on a mandatory leave of 123 days and further extended to 167.

“We find the entire episode and the justification for the President’s action regrettable and inconsistent with both the letter and spirit of the 1992 Constitution.” The group said.

They further added that, “If indeed the Auditor General was being treated as any civil or public servant would have been treated, the legal basis for forcing the Auditor General to take ‘accumulated leave’ is non-existent”.

As such, they have launched a hashtag on social media with headline “#BringBackDomelevo” and called on the Ghanaian general public to support them o this demand
