Reports indicate that, the Accra High Court presided over by Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe has fined Businessman and Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Honourable Kennedy Agyapong an amount of GHC 130,000.

The court found the lawmaker guilty in a suit filed against him by the Editor in chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baaku Jnr after he used certain words against him.

It could be recalled that, Kennedy Agyapong during an interview on Oman FM’s boiling point referred to Kwaku Baaku as a “very evil man” coupled with other attached statements which the latter deemed defamatory and sued accordingly.

The initial demand from Mr. Baaku in the defamation suit filed in 2018 was GHC 25 million but the court granted GHC 100,000 in damages and 30,000 making GHC 130,000

Apart from the fine, the Member of Parliament is equally expected to within a period of 30days retract the statements and apologize three times on the same medium he used to defame the Journalist.
