Following the closure of all schools in the country due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the government has decided to establish a dedicated channel to teach students at the Senior High School (SHS) level.

This was set up through the Ghana Education Service in collaboration with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation to bring free distance learning programs to the doorsteps of all SHSl students in Ghana.

Another repercussion of the outbreak of the Coronavirus is the suspension of the WASSCE by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) until normalcy is restored.

The name of the channel is Ghana Learning Television (GLTV) which will be under the auspices of the GBC.

After its launch on Friday, April 3, the channel will have teachers who will teach periodically all the Core and Elective subjects taken by various SHS students.

A rebroadcast of the lessons will be made available at the designated time to aid pupils who may have missed lessons to catch up.

This is government’s initiative to see to the dormancy of students at home and to engage their minds as they fight against the Coronavirus goes unabated.
