So tomorrow is Christmas and New Year is also ahead, so I decided to stock my food bank ahead of the festivities.
The last time I went to the market was a week ago.
After buying all that I needed, I walked to a shop where I normally buy my eggs. I pulled out GHS21 for payment only to be told that the crate of eggs is no longer sold at that price.
I was like “but why? I came here last week and I bought it at GHS21 so what changed?”.
In response, the shop attendant told me that the price has now moved to GHS28.
I asked again since when? And he responded that for a few days now.
“The fault is not from us, there was shortage at the farm where we buy it. So when we went over to buy stock, they increased the price, so we have no choice than to also increase the price”, he explained further.
This explains why ‘Nkosua Ne Meko’ is now selling at GHS1.50/GHS1.80 at some parts of Ghana.
