Details of Barcelona’s swap deal involving Coutinho and Mbappe

Despite what the Paris Saint Germain president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi and his directors would want you to believe, it appears they still have some issues with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

The Paris side splashed out a whooping 222 million euros to sign Neymar from Barcelona two seasons ago and also completed a deal for Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe headed to Paris from Monaco on an initial loan deal with a compulsory option for PSG to pay 180 million euros to make the move permanent.

With performances at the World Cup that saw France eventual become champions, Mbappe certainly showed the money PSG paid was well spent.

But back to the major issue at hand for the Parc des Princes club: UEFA’s FFP regulation. And reports say they are prepared to let Neymar or Mbappe leave to balance their books.

According to various news outlets, Barcelona are still interested in signing Mbappe whose age makes him a huge potential for their future attacking line.

And to make the deal happen, the Catalans are prepared to include Philippe Coutinho along with 150 million euros.

While Barcelona’s interest in Mbappe remains high, there’s big doubts in Catalonia that Barcelona would use Coutinho as part of the deal.

The Brazilian is the club’s most expensive signing in their history and still has the backing of the coaching staff and board despite his dip in form.

Mbappe willing to play for Barcelona

According to former football agent, Josep Maria Minguella, Mbappe wants to team up with Lionel Messi.

According to his quotes in the programme ‘La Porteria’, Minguella reveals on of his reasons for wanting the move was to play with Lionel Messi.

“On the 5th August I offered Mbappe to Barça.” he was quoted as saying.

“They didn’t respond and now I believe they committed an error which will impact Barcelona for the next 10 years.”

“His father told me that Kylian would’ve loved to have played alongside Leo Messi.”
