Kyrsten Lea Sinema has served as Arizona’s senior senator since January 2019. She was born on July 12, 1976, and is a politician and social worker in America. She was a Democrat who served in a number of elected capacities, including three terms in the 15th legislative district as a state representative from 2005 to 2011, one term in the same district as a state senator from 2011 to 2012, and three terms in the 9th congressional district as a representative from 2013 to 2019.
Sinema started out in politics as a member of the Arizona Green Party, where she became well-known for her progressive causes, such as her opposition to the war on terror and support for LGBT rights. She joined the Arizona Democratic Party in 2004 after leaving the Green Party, and in 2012 she won a seat in the House of Representatives. After winning, she joined the Problem Solvers Caucus, the New Democrat Coalition, and the Blue Dog Coalition, accumulating one of the Democratic caucus’ most conservative voting records.
