Like his father, the son of former NPP Vice President Aliu Mahama has ventured into politics.

Farouk Aliu Mahama as he’s known won the Yendi parliamentary seat for the NPP in a grandstyle — breaking and setting a record.

He won polled 40,624 votes to beat the National Democratic Congress’ Alhassan Abdul Fatawu, who polled 24,755 votes — that’s a 15,869 gap.

Farouk Aliu Mahama takes over the seat from the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Habib Tijani, who is also an NPP member.

Alhaji Mohammed Habib Tijani has been the MP for the area since 2012.

The Member of Parliament(MP)- elect, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama has bettered the fortunes of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Constituency by increasing the party’s votes from 27,000 in 2016 to over 40, 000 which represents a 32% increase from the previous elections.
