FIFA has given Ghana’s project team the go ahead to introduce the use of Video Assistant Referee VAR in the country’s football activities, joining South Africa, Morocco and Egypt as the only African countries to implement it.
This decision became known to the public after a meeting that was held in 12th April for the implementation of the highly used Technology system in Ghana.
Now that a project team has been approved, Ghanaian referee department is also working with those at FIFA for a smooth execution of the project in the Ghanaian Leagues.
A kick off meeting will be held by the approved team to appoint the VAR technology provider for the project’s full implementation in the 2022/2023 season.
