Two Sundays ago, President Akufo-Addo lifted the Coronavirus-induced lockdown on Ghana after just three weeks of observation.
According to the president, his decision at the time was based on experts’ advice, data, and science.
Many citizens did not receive the news with gladness since, at the time of lifting the lockdown, Ghana’s Coronavirus case count was in the thousands.
Barely 12 days after the lockdown was lifted, Ghana’s Coronavirus cases have almost doubled from 1,054 to 2,074.
When President Akufo-Addo lifted the lockdown, many trouped to the streets to express freedom from hunger and self-deprivation. Although many as of today still believe that decision was not in the best interest of Ghana but the president was selfish about his political gains and appeal.
As of today, Ghana has recorded a total case count of 2,074 with 17 deaths and 212 recoveries. Ghana is the second country on the continent with the highest number of tests and the first to lift her lockdown.
Following that, the president believes that ‘the country has conducted enhanced tracing, testing, and treatment” which will ensure the safety and health of the citizens and curtail the further spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, the experts have predicted a spike in Ghana’s case by the end of May 2, 2020, then it will see a steady decline until August when it will record its last COVID-19 case.
