Organizers of the Vodafone Ghana music awards will be rewarding ‘Artiste of the Decade’ as part of the 20th edition celebration.
Artiste of the Decade is the artiste adjudged by the Academy, Board and the General Public as the artiste(s) with the highest audience appeal and popularity over the last decade. The artiste(s) must have released a hit single/album within the last 10years.
Well, as it stands, most Ghanaian netizens are happy with those nominated in the above category except to see Gospel musician, Joe Mettle therein.
Many are of the view that Joe Mettle does not in anyway deserve such a nomination.
Or if Joe was nominated because they want to give some leverage to Gospel musicians, then Ohemaa Mercy or Obaapa Christy should have been given the nod not Joe Mettle.
One social media user wrote:
“Sometimes I feel like insulting the entire VGMA board. Yes that is how I feel now.
When did Joe Mettle become popular and relevant to be nominated as Artiste of the decade ahead of Ohemaa Mercy or Obaapa Christy, I mean how.
Are they trying to tell us Joe Mettle has been relevant than Ohemaa Mercy and Obaapa Christy in the last 10 years in our music industry?”
Another Facebook user, Rashad Kojo Emmanuel also wrote:
“Just after 3 years of gaining popularity with the help of the same VGMA, there he is!!!
Joe Mettle for Artiste Of The Decade? We joke too much in this industry 😆”
