The number of Coronavirus cases or COVD-19 has hit the 1 million mark and still counting and this is according to the Johns Hopkins University.

This is not a piece of palatable news but this how huge the number of affected people has risen to amid stiff battle to contain the further spread of the virus.

According to the university, over 51,00 people have died while a little above 208,000 people have recovered.

Currently, the US can account for the highest number of cases while Italy can also account for the higher number of death as far as COVID-19 is concerned.

The disease, COVID-19, first emerged in central China in Wuhan in the Hubei Province three months ago.

Though the tally kept by Johns Hopkins records one million confirmed cases, the actual number is thought to be much higher.

It took a month and a half for the first 100,000 cases to be registered. A million was reached after a doubling in cases over the past week.

Nearly a quarter of cases have been registered in the United States, while Europe accounts for around half.
