President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has pointed at the private sector as bearing the primary responsibility of job creation.

He stressed, therefore, that government’s ability to create jobs is limited.

But he indicated that the private sector’s disposition to create jobs must have the “active support” of government.

President Akufo-Addo was speaking at the commissioning of three factories for Unilever Ghana Limited on Tuesday, January 15.

He said since assuming office two years ago, he has sought to build the most business-friendly environment in Africa and he is on course.

“My government will work to continue to create a stable macroeconomic [atmosphere].”

He said the goal of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government is to whip up the innovative and entrepreneurial instincts of the Ghanaian private sector “to drive record growth in job creation”.

“I am confident that we are on course in realizing this dream.”

Minister of Trades and Industry Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, who was also at the event, lauded the president for stabilizing Ghana’s economy.

He said the macroeconomic indicators are favourable for businesses to thrive in Ghana.
