Tanya Haden was born in New York City and has been a member of several bands, including Let’s Go Sailing, as well as the creator of the Imaginary Bear puppet show. She has contributed vocals and cello to a number of Los Angeles musicians’ recordings, including vocals and cello on Par Avion’s EP, Pop Music United. She is the daughter of jazz double bassist Charlie Haden; the triplet sister of bassist Rachel Haden and violinist Petra Haden, with whom she has performed as the Haden Triplets; and the sister of bassist-singer Josh Haden, leader of the group Spain.
The Haden Triplets, which consists of Tanya and her sisters Petra and Rachel, released their debut album on February 4, 2014. The sisters’ harmonious singing is featured on the album. Ry Cooder produced the album, which also includes the sisters playing their respective instruments. Third Man Records, which was established by musician Jack White, is the label that is releasing the album.

Haden met actor Jack Black while attending Crossroads School, a private high school in Santa Monica. Despite attending the same private high school, they did not start dating until the spring of 2005. The couple married on March 14, 2006, in Big Sur, California. On June 10, 2006, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Haden gave birth to their first son. They welcomed their second son on May 23, 2008.
