Born on August 15, 1985, and passing away on March 31, 2019, Airmiess Joseph Asghedom, better known as Nipsey Hussle (or Nipsey Hu$$le at times), was a rapper from the United States. Hussle was a rookie to the West Coast hip hop scene when he self-released Slauson Boy Volume 1 in the middle of the 2000s, but it received little local success. Both Epic Records and Cinematic Music Group agreed to sign him as a result.

Hussle became well-known because of his several mixtapes, including the Bullets Ain’t Got No Name series, The Marathon, The Marathon Continues, and Crenshaw, of which American rapper Jay-Z purchased 100 copies for $100 apiece.

When it was finally published in 2018, Victory Lap, his eagerly anticipated debut studio album, was favorably welcomed by both critics and fans. It was a contender for the Best Rap Album Grammy Award in 2019.

For the tracks “Racks in the Middle” and “Higher,” Hussle got two posthumous Grammy Awards the following year at the 62nd Grammy Awards. These awards were given in the categories of Best Rap Performance and Best Rap/Sung Performance.

Hussle was slain by a gunshot outside of his store in South Los Angeles.
