“I salute his memory” – Ex-President Laurent Gbagbo pens tribute to DJ Arafat

Former President of the Ivory Coast, Laurent Gbagbo has penned down a tribute to the late musician DJ Arafat after his sad death through an accident.

Laurent Gbagbo’s message which he passed through his secretary Minister Justin Katinan Koné reads:

It is with consternation that I learned of the death, by traffic accident, on August 12, 2019, of Mr. Houon Ange Didier, artist-musician, known under the nickname of DJ Arafat. I bow to his remains and salute his memory. I measure the depth of the sentence of his family, including his children, his wife and his mother.

I offer them my sincere condolences and pray to God to give them the strength to overcome this terrible ordeal. The brutal conditions of his death, combined with his immense talent and his young age, make it a national tragedy. This is why I express my sympathy to the entire Ivorian population, especially young people, who are losing an icon.

A great ambassador of Ivorian culture for the past ten years, DJ Arafat’s work will keep him alive in our hearts forever. Let us join our prayers for the repose of his soul.
