Veteran journalist Oheneyere Gifty Anti has shared the struggles of her life when she was unmarried and without a child although she was doing well in her career.

Speaking to Jay Foley and Emefa Adeti on the Joy Prime Morning Show, Gifty Anti said she was looked down upon and was heavily criticized for her inability to attract a suitor although she wasn’t getting any younger.

“Don’t praise her too much, unless she’s married with a kid, then you can call her successful woman,” she recounted a family member telling someone who had praised her for having a successful career.

Gifty Anti said her only source of hope was to keep believing in God for a miracle.

According to her, she contemplated the idea to adopt a child when the pressure was unbearing. She added that she was told by her first doctor after her marriage that she will not be able to have a baby but that did not sadden her.

“However, after some time, another doctor told her she can actually have a baby and that was a complete display of God’s graciousness,” she said.

She said she had always wanted to be a mother and was already playing a motherly role in the lives of many people long before she herself would give birth.
