Ghanaian Anglophone Hip-Hop star, Desmond Kwesi Blackmore, known by his stage name D-Black has stated in an interview with KOD on Starr FM that the industry requires a high level of loyalty in order to stay relevant.

D-Black noted that the Ghanaian music industry is like a longterm project which requires time for it to be pay off.

He added that he signs artistes if and only if they agree to stay on his label above 2 years.

He said;

It’s about loyalty. If an artiste wants to leave after two years, I won’t work with you. It means you don’t care that the team is working to make your career a success. So that after 3, 4, 5 years we all can enjoy our fruits of labor. If I talk to you, and you say you want to work for two years, that’s the end of the deal”.

He is the CEO of Black Avenue Muzik and he has signed Dahlin Gage (Afrobeats, Dancehall, Hiphop), Kobla Jnr (Afrobeats), Nina Ricchie (Pop, Afrobeats), the winner of the most recent MTN Hitmaker Reality show ‘Freda Rhymz’ (Hiphop), the controversial Wisa Greid (Highlife, Afrobeats), Osayo (RNB, Afrobeats), S3fa (Soul, Afrobeats, RNB), Rony Turn Me Up (Music Producer), Dj (Head music producer and music director of the label)unto his label.
