An Accra High Court has given a default judgement that will make it possible for Interpol to chase Safari Bet, wherever they may be in the world, for betting money owed client, Theophilus Morgan.

Africa Gaming and Entertainment Ltd, operators of Safaribet, who have currently closed down operations in Ghana, owe Theophilus an amount ofGH¢ 57,603,306.20 from bets placed and won last year.

The 220 multiple bets which were placed between November 7 and 11, 2018, became a subject of a raging dispute until Ghana’s Gaming Commission ruled that the gambler be paid his money.

In spite of the Gaming Commission’s ruling, Safari Bet reneged on the order to pay Morgan, only to close down its gaming activities in the country.

This latest ruling, however, means that Safaribet who are defendants in the case has been ordered by the court to pay the plaintiff, Theophilus Morgan, the full amount of the GH¢ 57,603,306.20 plus bonuses.

An order Theophilus says he intends to do through the international law enforcement organization, INTERPOL.

The court’s order also allows Mr Morgan to claim his win from the company anywhere around the world.

Mr Morgan says as he prepares to chase Safari Bet for his money, he expects the Gaming Commission of Ghana to pay him the GH¢ 286,000 which is not in dispute and some other monies, as stipulated in the Gaming laws of Ghana.

Ghana’s gaming laws require every betting company to have a base capital of $2m as collateral with the Gaming Commission in case they default in payments to winners.
