Chicago Med, the third instalment in Wolf Entertainment’s Chicago franchise, is an American medical drama television series created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead. The first episode of the series aired on NBC on November 17, 2015. Chicago Med covers the emergency department (ED) doctors and nurses at the fictional Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.

On February 27, 2020, NBC ordered a sixth, seventh, and eighth season of the program. The start date for the sixth season is November 11, 2020. The start of the seventh season was set on September 22, 2021. The premiere of the eighth season is set for September 21, 2022.

The third entry in Dick Wolf’s Chicago series, which is set in Chicago, is titled Chicago Med. The emergency room of the Gaffney Chicago Medical Focus and the staff members who labour there to save patients’ lives are at the centre of the story. There are occasional characters from Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.

On May 1, 2015, NBC authorized the series to broadcast its pilot episode.
Andrew Dettman left his position as showrunner on August 21, 2015, claiming “creative problems,” after starting in June. The new showrunners, Andrew Schneider and Diane Frolov, were selected on August 27, 2015.
NBC initially requested 13 episodes for season one; on December 11, 2015, 5 further episodes were requested, raising the season’s total to 18.

On February 1, 2016, NBC renewed the program for a second season. On May 15, 2016, it was revealed that the series will now air on Thursdays. The second season premiered on September 22, 2016.

NBC made the decision to move the third season of Law & Order from the fall to midseason on May 10, 2017, following the premiere of Dick Wolf’s sixth Law & Order series, Law & Order True Crime. The program returned to Tuesdays after one season of airing on Thursdays.

On March 13, 2020, Universal Television ceased production of the show because of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Is Chicago Med leaving Netflix?

Chicago Med received a 14-region Netflix license on September 1st, 2021. Chicago Med seasons 1-4 were acquired by it.

They leave the service after a year because they only have a one-year license.
