Peters & Lee is a British folk-pop duo founded by Lennie Peters and Dianne Lee in 1970.
Lennie was born in 1993 in Islington, north London, and lost his sight in both eyes at the age of 16 due to an accident, but this did not deter him from pursuing his aspirations.
During the 1960s, he worked as a pianist and vocalist in London bars.
During that time, he published a number of songs, including “My heart cried,” “Let the tears begin,” and “Love me love me,” until he met Dianne, a Sheffield actress and dancer who was performing with her cousin Liz in a dancing act.
The two secured a recording contract with Philips, kicking off a fruitful artistic collaboration.
“Welcome home” was their first single, which hit number one in the UK singles chart.
What happened to their subsequent first album, “We Can Make It,” is exactly what happened.
Peters & Lee had three more top ten albums and three more hits.
They broke up in 1980, but reformed six years later with a new song, “Familiar sentiments,” and two new albums in 1989 and 1992.
