Is It Illegal to Gay in Poland?
Being gay is not a crime in Poland as of 2021. The government decriminalized homosexuality in 1932, and in 1933 the legal age of consent for same-sex relationships was lowered to 15.
The absence of legal rights for the LGBTQ+ population in Poland, however, as well as the recent rise in anti-LGBTQ+ attitude, have drawn criticism.
There have been incidents of violence and discrimination against LGBTQ+ people around the nation, and some local governments have established so-called “LGBTQ+ free zones” across the nation.
Yet, a large number of LGBTQ+ persons in Poland continue to fight for their rights, promote increased legal safeguards, and promote social acceptance across the country.
