Teacher, author, and television personality, Julia Child is best known for taking French cuisine to the American public on her television show The French Chef in the 1960s.
Julia Carolyn Child was born August 15, 1912. She was the granddaughter of Byron Curtis Weston, the founder of Weston Paper. Child graduated from Smith College with a degree in history in 1934.
Child later graduated from the famous Cordon Bleu, a cooking school in Paris and also studied under Max Bugnard in 1951. The same year, she started teaching American women French cuisine in Paris. She co-wrote the book Mastering the Art of French Cooking and it was a bestseller.
In 1963, she launched her show The French Chef, the show was on air for ten years. She won Peabody and Emmy Awards for the show.
She ventured into other projects like lending her voice in the animated movie We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story.

Julia Child died of kidney failure on August 13, 2004, two days short of her 92nd birthday. Her book, My Life in France was her last project and was released two years after her death.
