Prince Semien Fielder, a former first baseman and designated hitter in Major League Baseball (MLB), was born on May 9, 1984.
Fielder was left-handed at birth, but his baseball hero father, Cecil Fielder, taught him how to swing a bat left-handed when he was very young. Fielder was a frequent visitor to his father’s teams’ locker rooms as a child. He appeared on MTV’s Rock N’ Jock Softball with his father. While Prince was a player for Detroit, he occasionally attended his father during batting practice. Fielder hit a home run off Tigers third base coach Terry Francona into Tiger Stadium’s upper deck when he was 12 years old in 1996.
Fielder was a member of the Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers, and Texas Rangers, among others. In the first round of the Major League Baseball draft in 2002, the Brewers selected him out of Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Florida.
Prior to joining the Tigers in January 2012, he spent the first seven years of his MLB career with the Brewers. In November 2013, Fielder was traded to the Rangers, where he spent the remainder of his playing days. Fielder is a six-time All-Star.
Fielder holds the Brewers’ team records for home runs (HR) and runs batted in (RBI), and he is the youngest player in National League (NL) history to hit 50 home runs in a season.
Is Prince Fielder in the Hall of Fame?
Over the course of seven years, Prince Fielder gave the Milwaukee Brewers a ton of incredible memories, nearly usually in the form of a huge home run. The first baseman will be inducted into the Brewers Walk of Fame on August 6, making him the team’s first member to do so since Geoff Jenkins was honoured in 2018.
