Jim Clyburn Education: Where Did Jim Clyburn Go To School?


James Enos Clyburn, is a politician and retired educator from the United States, he was born on July 21, 1940. Jim Clyburn has represented South Carolina as a Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives. From 2011 to 2019, and till date, he serves as the House assistant Democratic leader. He has held the position of majority whip twice, which was from 2019 to 2023 and from 2007 to 2011.

The House was taken over by the Republicans in the 2022 midterm elections, and Pelosi declared her resignation as head of the House Democratic Caucus. Hoyer stated he would not run for re-election to his leadership position the following day. However, Clyburn declared he would run for Assistant Democratic Leader of the House rather than Democratic Whip.

Jim Clyburn attended South Carolina State College (currently named South Carolina State University), which was a historically black college in Orangeburg, after graduating from Mather Academy in Camden, South Carolina (presently called Boylan-Haven-Mather Academy). He also became a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and got a history bachelor’s degree.
