Former President Jerry John Rawlings sent tongues wagging with his new look. The former statesman is well known for always keeping his hair in a moderately short way.
However, it appears COVID-19 has forced him to refrain from visiting the barbershop to cut his hair.
Making an appearance in public on Thursday to address a virtual celebration of the 41st anniversary of the June 4 uprising, he was spotted with a bushy hair and beard.
JJ Rawlings attempted to explain his new look and sarcastically compared it to that of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s clean-shaven head [sakora].
“Ladies and gentlemen…since the president [Akufo-Addo] has decided to use his shaven hair to get rid of convo-19, [Covid-19] what is called…, I will use [my] Moses’ brush [hair] to get rid of it and when it happens, then I think we can go back to our” normal lives, the former President with his grey hair and beard looking like Nigeria’s Wole Soyinka said amidst laughter and pointed to his bushy hair and beard.
