A Ghana Premier League match between Asante Kotoko and Aduana today was based on superstitions and spiritual directions which gave the game a new but awkward look.

Before the match, Kotoko who was moving to Dormaa decided to take a different route from the normal as directed by a local soothsayer they had consulted.

After 25 minutes in Dormaa Ahenkro, both Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko were playing with ten men due to superstitious beliefs which lasted for the first half.

Aduana defender Farouk Mohammed and Kotoko’s midfielder Martin Antwi were on the bench waiting to be introduced onto the field of play.

However, Kotoko managed to lose by a goal to nil. This to a great extent has rendered their superstitious approach to the group abortive.

The Ghana Premier League has begun to warm the hearts of Ghanaians but it appears this act will surely not bring the love back.

Many have described the act as very unprofessional and bizarre. But to many, it is not surprising since the local football is known for some of these shenanigans.
