Lydia Seyram Alhassan is a Ghanaian politician and member of Parliament of the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.
She replaced her late husband after he passed away in the year 2018. In January 2019 she contested and won the parliamentary seat for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

Her full name is Lydia Seyram Alhassan but she is affectionately called Ma Lydia on the political scene.

She was born on the 31st of January, 1970 at Atiavi in the Volta Region of Ghana.
Education
She holds holds an MBA in Marketing from the University of Ghana Business School, Legon and a Bachelor of Administration degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA)
Hometown
She hails from the Volta Region of Ghana.
Personal Life
She was married to the late Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko until his death in the year 2018.
Politics and Career
In January 2019, Alhassan contested the parliamentary seat for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency after her husband passed away.
She won the election with 68.80 per cent of the valid votes cast. There were speculations that she won based on sympathy from the people due to the death of her husband.

In the year 2020 however, the race for the seat was keenly as popular celebrity John Dumelo under the ticket of the NDC gave Miss Lydia a run for her money. She however won with a very small margin of 2000 votes polling 9,851 of the valid votes cast.
