Real Madrid and Brazilian star, Marcelo Vieira da Silva Júnior just demonstrated a true sportsmanship during his Club’s debut match since coronavirus forced the closure of all sports activities.

The award winning defender took a knee in honour of George Floyd and also as a support for the Black Lives Matter (BLM) after scoring the third goal for the club against Laliga side, Eibar FC to secure their hope for the league cup winner.

This act of his has been eulogized by many people. Aside Marcelo, the likes of Jadon Sancho and Achraf Hakimi have equally dedicated their goal celebrations to George Floyd.

The death of George Floyd, a black American who was brutalized by Minnesota Police officers has so far attracted a lot of attention and worldwide protests against systemic racism against black people.

The movement has gathered a lot of momentum and proves to be one of the most promising establishments ever against the long standing issue of racism which has plagued the world for ages.

Many across diverse professions and race demonstrated their support for the movement and also their hatred towards the now, unattractive practice of racism.

Black Lives matter has so far advocated for the removal of a number of symbols of racism across Europe including the statue of the Belgian King Leopold II who masterminded the death of more than 10 million people in Congo among many others.
