Earlier in the lockdown, the 22-year-old collaborated with Fareshare, a national network of humanitarian food distributors, to ensure that disadvantaged children who would miss school lunches were not hungry.
With the end of the school year just around the corner, Rashford has written to MPs pleading with them to extend the free school meals program so that needy children do not go hungry during the summer.

Robert and Melanie Rashford are Marcus Rashford’s parents. Melanie was left to raise Marcus and his siblings, Dane Rashford and Dwaine Maynard, on her own after the couple split when Marcus was very young.
Robert Rashford acts as his son’s agent, according to Manchester United fan site Man United Core, while Melanie works as a cashier.
In his open letter to MPs, Marcus mentioned his mother, saying, “The man you see before you is a product of her [his mother’s] love and care.” I have friends from the middle class who have never known even a fraction of the love I have had from my mother, a single mother who would give up everything for our pleasure.”
