Most people are familiar with Matteo Jorgenson’s journey to riding in Europe. He is the young American who individually reached out to several European clubs in an effort to get a move.
Through his own diligence and tenacity, he was able to secure a contract with AG2R’s feeder squad in 2019.
After a great year, he immediately joined Movistar on their world tour, which surprised several people because they had anticipated him joining AG2R’s complete squad.
The Spanish team was starting a change; several of its great stars left, and younger riders with tons of potential replaced them. It was up to these new riders to prove they could turn their potential into results.
Matteo’s season began in Colombia, where he competed in a thrilling race.
The crowds on the side of the route, which are often approximately 10 deep because the locals are passionate cyclists, make the event spectacular for spectators at home and abroad.
