For the past few days, internet connectivity for MTN users suffered a major challenge after an undersea fibre cut.

Just yesterday, however, all problems that came with the fibre-cut was resolved.

But a viral report on social media indicated that all data relating to Quickloan have been lost and cannot be restored.

The report said:

The lost is partly due to the second cut in the undersea fibre that stores information shared by third parties running the company’s USSDs.

Loan defaulters and customers owing the company have been asked to volunteer information about the last loans they took and when they are supposed to pay. “This is the only way we can have the details and we wish they share the information with us to help us retrieve the funds”, Mr. Osei Assibey, Operations Manager for Quickloan said.”

Well, MTN Ghana has officially responded to these reports calling them false.

MTN in their public service announcement wrote:

“MTN wishes to inform its loyal customers to debunk rumours about loss of data on its QWIKLOAN services.

Data on QWIKLOAN are stored securely and under no circumstance will an undersea fibre cut affect data storage for the service. This information is not true and should be disregarded.
