Renowned Ghanaian actor cum politician John Dumelo has revealed his mother’s desire to see him grow to serve the Lord and His people as a Reverend Minister.
He made this known in an interview with Rev Erskine on YFM on the YLeaderboad Series yesterday.
According to the aspiring parliamentarian, during his childhood, he used to work in the Catholic church as a Mass Boy which meant that he will grow to be a Reverend Minister.
“I used to serve mass and at a point, I think my mother even wanted me to be a Reverend Father but that calling, I beat am. When you serve mass well, they’ll probably tell you to go to Pope John Senior High School and continue to the seminary and so on but I beat that path. God had other purposes for me,” he said.
John Dumelo took the opportunity to speak about his decision to enter into acting although that was not the best of decisions, he made it paid off.
For the umpteenth time, he spoke about his decision to venture into politics and why contrary to all perceptions, he is into politics to serve.
“Making money isn’t the reason for getting into politics. The demands are even higher than what you’d make as an MP. It’s not an avenue to make money it’s an avenue to serve the people, he said.
John Dumelo advised the youth, in the course of the interview, to embrace entrepreneurial endeavors. He added that farming is a very lucrative business that one can start from.
“Farming is a very lucrative business but as a new farmer, never start on a large scale. You have to start on a small scale, pay attention to the details, and use the opportunity to learn the basics. Farming as a career requires your full attention and if you can’t do that, then you are bound to make so much loss as a farmer,” he said.
The interview had a nice surprise for John Dumelo when his wife Gifty Mawunya Nkornu phoned in to give a verdict on his husband.
“John loves music, but despite his love for music, he is not musically talented” regardless of him being featured in a song by rapper, Sarkodie,” she said.
John Dumelo ended the interview by mentioning Sarkodie, EL, Tulenkey, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy as his favorite Ghanaian musicians.
