Beloved Narayan Debnath was a 96-years-old writer who gave his entire life to his passion and worked hard to achieve respect and love from everyone. Narayan Debnath was a cartoonist and belonged to Bengali comic characters.
Bantul The Great, Handa Bhonda, and Nonte Phonte were some of the best characters of the artist. After the news of his demise went viral on social media, many celebrities and politicians paid tribute to him and expressed their deep condolence over his passing.

Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti”. According to the updates, he took his last breath on Tuesday morning after a prolonged illness, said hospital staff where he was admitted and undergoing treatment.
The doctor says that he died at 10:15 AM the morning. After his health did not improve, he was admitted to the private hospital on December 24, 2021, where he was kept on the ventilator but this morning, the doctors told him that Narayan Debnath is taking his last breath.
He was always loved by his fans almost around the country and gave him wishes during treatment but unfortunately, that’s all the artist was with. He was holding the longest-running comics by an individual artiste for Handa Bhonda comics which was running for the last 53 years.
Today, his passing made everyone teary. He was the only and first comic artist in India who has received a D. Litt. degree. Debnath was also awarded Padma Shri. He was born on November 25, 1925, in Howrah, Bengal Presidency, British India and spent his childhood at the same place. In an interview, he stated that he was interested in comics at an early of his age.
During his entire career, he did lots of hard work and achieved several awards in India. On January 26, 2021, he was awarded Padma Shri. He also achieved Sahitya Akademi Award in 2013 and Banga Bibhushan in 2013. Today, we lost the biggest cartoonist of India. May his soul rest in peace.
