Nigeria lifts ban on twitter

Nigeria’s federal government has lifted the ban on microblogging service Twitter that was imposed in 2021.

After President Buhari’s tweet was deleted, claiming that it violated guidelines and policies, the social media network was banned in June 2021, prompting a over freedom of speech.

However, before the ban is lifted, the continent’s most populous government has demanded that the tech giant pay all appropriate taxes and establish a legal organization in the country by the first quarter of 2022.

As a result of Twitter’s agreement to pay the tax and establish a presence in the country, the president has now ordered the lifting of Twitter’s ban, which went into force at midnight on January 13, 2022.
