Nigerian singer, Teni, has spoken out about rumours that gunmen tried to kidnap her while she was playing on stage.
When it was alleged that individuals dressed in all black stopped her performance and ordered her to leave with them, fans were frightened for her safety. Gunshots were heard in the background in videos shared, with people fleeing for their lives.
Teni reclaimed her voice and stated that there was confusion and panic, but that it was caused by a dispute backstage, not a kidnapping attempt. She claimed that the incident happened so quickly that all she saw were bottles flying through the air and gunfire.
Teni, on the other hand, was guarded by her bodyguards. She stated that she, along with the rest of her squad, is well and has returned home.
“Could have been a different story, but I’m grateful to God,” she wrote along with posts of gratitude to all who checked up on her.
