Ghana leapfrogged Nigeria as the location for Twitter Africa headquarters.

Immediately after Twitter Ceo Jack Dorsey tweeted Ghana as the selected country for Twitter Africa headquarters, Loquacious Nigerians besieged his tweet to question why Nigeria wasn’t selected but little Ghana.

Twitter has specified why Ghana was selected, “as a champion for democracy, Ghana is a supporter of free speech, online freedom, and the open internet, of Which Twitter is also an advocate”. Yet many Nigerians weren’t happy.

img 20210412 wa00045631785880662575731Many lambasted Buhari for failing to lobby for good things like this kind for Nigeria. BUT it’s “somewhat” clear why Nigeria wasn’t chosen.

Just last year, Nigeria Business man and former presidential aspirant Adamu Garba filled $1B lawsuit against Jack Dorsey for endorsing the #ENDSARS protest. Garba requested that “an order be issued to stop operations of Twitter in any part of the territory of the federal state of Nigeria”

Jack Dorsey might not want to find himself in similar situation in the future that’s why he chose Ghana despite Nigeria being the largest economy in Africa, and a high number of Twitter users compare to Ghana.

Both countries share similar culture and are seen as the two sister Nations despite not sharing land or sea border.
