Gyedu Blay Ambolley who is arguably one of the pioneers of rap music in Ghana and a veteran highlife musician disagrees with celebrities who endorse alcoholic beverages.
The Food and Drugs Authority imposition of the ban on celebrities not to advertise for alcoholic brands did not go down with most of those involved but it appears Ambolley has a different stance.
Speaking on 3FM in Accra, the 72-year-old crooner said that no celebrity in his or her right senses will endorse or advertise for any alcoholic brand.
He backed the FDA not to consider lifting the ban because he believes it is a good measure put in place.
” All those celebrities who have proper sense will not endorse alcohol because alcohol is not good.” He noted
” Celebrities endorsing alcoholic beverages shouldn’t be allowed at all. Music and alcohol shouldn’t be allowed because of it’ll be enticing the youth. If you look at music videos, it all features young boys and girls. Alcohol mustn’t be in the system for the young boys and girls.” The veteran music star added
Celebrities including Wendy Shay, Edem and Afia Schwarzeneggar have been on the forefront on championing the lifting on the ban but the authorities are adamant to their concerns
