Five Emmys, the National Medal of Arts, and the Kennedy Center Honors are just a few of the many accolades that Lear has garnered over his career.

A prestigious honour, he has been inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame. In addition to his business success, Lear is well-known for his political involvement and his support of liberal and progressive causes and leaders.

To fight the Christian right’s influence in politics, he launched People for the American Way in 1980 and toured with a copy of the Declaration of Independence in the early 2000s.
